BIO

Michael Wiley is the EVP, Global Chief Social Media Officer at VivaKi. He leads social strategy and help drive growth and innovation across VivaKi’s four agency brands: Digitas, Razorfish, Starcom MediaVest Group and ZenithOptimedia.

Prior to joining VivaKi, Wiley worked in a variety of digital and social leadership roles at Edelman, where he oversaw client work for Abbott Laboratories, Disney, Harley-Davidson, Kraft Foods, Quaker and United Airlines. He was an early member of Edelman’s me2revolution and later played a key role in building the firm’s digital business in the U.S. and Europe while serving as a managing director.

Before Edelman, Wiley spent almost ten years at General Motors as Director, Global Communications Technology and New Media. He developed the company’s intranet, many of its corporate and media websites and drove innovation for the brand through the use of emerging media. Wiley’s pioneering efforts included the development in 2005 of the GM FastLane blog with Robert A. Lutz – which is often cited as watershed moment in the acceptance of social media as a legitimate communication and engagement vehicle.
